  • WELCOME TO MY BLOGSITE!

Hi, I’m Vera, a portrait and wedding photographer in the Richmond, VA area. I love working with couples and families to capture slices of their life with beautiful, modern photography.

My blogsite contains the latest entries and images from my sessions, everyday life and news. I hope that by visiting and browsing the site, you can get a glimpse of my photography style and personality.

Lindsey & Jeffrey – Wedding, Bay Creek Resort, Cape Charles, Eastern Shore, VA

When I met up with Lindsey and Jeffrey for their engagement session in June, it was blisteringly hot and humid! We kind of joked around that their wedding in August would be similar.

Thankfully…it wasn’t! Lindsey and Jeffrey’s wedding was gorgeous. Perfect weather and just sunny skies all around.

I have really enjoyed working with them; they are such a cute couple and so easygoing.

Some of my favorites:

The gorgeous bride! Doesn’t she have the warmest brown eyes ever?!

The reception was stunning. Held at Bay Creek Resort and florals by Black Iris.

I love Jeffrey and his groomsmen’s gray suits.

This was a fun detail…creating fans out of the programs!

This is one of my favorites:

Lindsey and Jeffrey had a great reception…they had such a huge dancing crowd! Chris at DJ on the Side did a fantastic job:

Congratulations Lindsey and Jeffrey!:-)

Salina & Philip – Engagement Session, Canal Walk, Richmond VA

The first time I met Salina and Philip and learned they were UVA grads, I told them I was a Hokie and said, “And I hope you don’t hold it against me!”

And I guess they didn’t because I am super excited to be photographing their wedding in the fall!

We met up for their engagement session and I really enjoy it when a couple decides to mix it up a little with some fun in the city, like the Canal Walk.

The clouds were pretty ominous!

Laura – Senior Portraits, Jeffrey Mansion, Columbus OH

I have known Laura for over 10 years now! She is one of Brian’s many cousins and I can’t believe she is going to be a senior this year. Time is flying!

Brian and I had planned a trip to OH to visit with his mom’s family and then head to MI to visit his dad’s side of the family. We had to plan some coordination and we ended up meeting at 7AM at Jeffrey Mansion. It was an extremely muggy morning and it just finished raining minutes before we all arrived.

Laura was a great sport for such an early session in the morning. I for one, could appreciate the teenager’s desire to sleep in…because as soon as we finished this session and got back to the in-laws, I took a nap!:-)

Brian’s family is extremely music-talented. I think he’s one of the very few who doesn’t play an instrument or sing! Laura plays the cello beautifully and she (and Brian’s sister and another cousin) played at our wedding ceremony.

And this is my favorite-est capture from the morning:

Thanks for a fun morning Laura! <3:-)

Erin & Karl – Wedding Photography, Richmond VA, Maymont

Last month I photographed Erin & Karl’s wedding at Maymont. Also bear in mind that last month was one of the hottest months on record in Virginia! It was extremely hot and humid, but Erin and Karl were in fantastic spirits.

I also got to work again with Sally from Something Blue and she was so good about making sure everyone from the wedding party to guests to vendors remained well-hydrated from the heat.

Erin was such a cool and easygoing bride:

This is yet another one of my favorite bridal party shots. I love this. I asked the gorgeous women to give me their best “top model” look!

Brian snapped this one of Karl that I love:

Erin and her dad came down in the carriage to the Italian Gardens. It was so cute…there were children screaming, “Look! A princess!” when she first got into the carriage:

Can I just say I love it when couples schedule extra time for portraits of just the two of them? There is just something about being able to capture the first few minutes of just the two of them as a newly married husband and wife:

Sigh.:-)

Congratulations Erin & Karl!:-)

Erin - Vera, I can’t say enough about what a fantastic job you did! So many people have asked me who my photographer was and I am so quick to let everyone know because you were great! The pictures are beautiful and we enjoyed getting to know you and Brian!

Grace & Nick – Wedding Photography, Arlington VA, Top of the Town

Last month we headed to Arlington to capture Grace and Nick’s big day. Normally June is a beautiful time to marry in Virginia and their wedding day (and Grace’s birthday!) was no exception.

Their ceremony was held at Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington. It’s a beautiful church that has recently undergone remodeling:

The beautiful birthday bride:

This cutie-pie was making faces and I couldn’t resist, I had to share:

Grace made her veil and I love all the movement behind it:

Nick and Grace drove a 1956 convertible Corvette to the reception, and of course we had to get some shots of this lovely. Grace’s nieces made the “Just Married” sign:

They had a gorgeous reception at Top of the Town in Arlington. Because their wedding was during the earlier part of the morning, the light and view was stunning for the afternoon reception.

How can you go wrong with this view?

Congratulations Grace and Nick!:-)It was truly a pleasure to be a part of your wedding day.

Lee - Oh Vera- just gorgeous!! I love you style. I wish I had photos like this…

Vera - Lee you are too kind! Let me know next time you’re down in VA! ;-)
