Cayce & Adam – Wedding!

I have really enjoyed working with Cayce and her family again. She and her family have been such great supporters of my work and it has truly been a pleasure!

Edited to add: The fantastic band is The Redneck Pool Party. They are a fun, dynamic group!

Onto the fun part of the beautiful bride:

The dashing groom:

A romantic barn wedding:

My favorite time of a wedding is capturing photos of the bride and groom…it is fun to peek into the window of their newly married status and the joy of it all. This moment was even more hilarious and awesome because Cayce was willing to step into the freezing snow in her heels to follow through with my photographic vision. Brian actually made snow footprints for Cayce to step in!She and Adam were such great sports and I think we have some lovely results:

I really love this one:

I showed this one in black and white, but I think color is beautiful too:

These two images make me smile:

I wish Tracey & Cayce had another sister! Can you blame me? These ladies are gorgeous!

Thanks for the fun wedding journey Cayce and Adam. Congratulations again! :-)

Cayce & Adam – Wedding

I’ll have a full post coming on Friday, but for now, a preview for Cayce and Adam. Their lovely wintry wedding was at Amber Grove on Saturday:

Forecast: Snow?!

What a way to kick off the weekend with the possibility of more snow!

During the first big snow in December, we were on the road to Asheville, NC to visit the Biltmore. What turned into a supposed 5-ish hour drive turned into a nightmare-ish 11 hour trip. By the time we arrived to the hotel, exhausted and drained, we learned the hotel was completely out of power!

Visiting the Biltmore was lovely, but we weren’t able to fully enjoy their dining and shopping experience because they didn’t have power either!

We ended up cutting our trip short and now we can semi-joke about the disastrous road trip.

Except this time around with impending snow, we are staying put and fully intending to hibernate at home.

I hope you are all staying warm this weekend! :-)

Las Vegas – Travels

Recently Brian and I took a trip out to Las Vegas with his parents. It was our first fun-filled “grown-up” vacation together, and of course like all the other tourists, we brought our cameras out to play. One of my favorite travel tips is to go up to another tourist and offer to take a photo of him/her with his/her family…and almost 100% of the time they will return the favor. Even if a few important details are missing!

I am always nervous whenever I hand off my camera to someone to get a group shot of us because I never know how the image will turn out! Just because you give someone a fancy camera to use does not mean there will be fantastic results!

And sure enough, here are the very few photos of all four of us together. This first one is hilarious enough because the kind gentleman took about 5 shots to come up with this:

And when we got to the Las Vegas sign…well, I kind of hoped to actually have a photo of us WITH the sign when I handed it to a teen who seemed like he knew what he was doing!:

I am going to have to check my father-in-law’s camera to see if he got better results from handing off his camera! :-)

Phoebe – Portraits

Happy New Year! I kicked off the new year with a fun portrait session with Phoebe. I met Phoebe’s mother Shari back in October and she has become a great role model/mentor in my other work/life. When Shari hired me to photograph Phoebe, I was super flattered and excited. Unfortunately we had to reschedule due to rainy weather, and chose today…where the high temperature was in the mid-30s.

I have to say that Phoebe was an absolute dream to work with…she is a gorgeous junior. Phoebe was ready for any and all of my crazy suggestions. She braved the cold without a complaint! I was shaking in my coat, scarf and sweater, so I can only imagine how much more colder Phoebe felt!

I think we ended up with fabulous images. Despite the FREEZING cold and wind, the light was lovely:

Phoebe’s last outfit was completely her idea and I love love love her for doing this:

Yes, that is leftover SNOW in the background!

My favorite favorite one:

Thank you Shari and Phoebe! We made it through! ;-)
