  • WELCOME TO MY BLOGSITE!

Hi, I’m Vera, a portrait and wedding photographer in the Richmond, VA area. I love working with couples and families to capture slices of their life with beautiful, modern photography.

My blogsite contains the latest entries and images from my sessions, everyday life and news. I hope that by visiting and browsing the site, you can get a glimpse of my photography style and personality.

Erin – Bridals, Maymont, Richmond VA

I’m still working my way through a few other sessions. Let me start off with this lovely bride, Erin. Erin and Karl were married this weekend, and I have been holding on to her bridal session for a little while now. I am so excited to finally share this!

We took her bridal portraits at Maymont and it was just a perfect beautiful day.

This one makes me think of a princess…and Erin definitely looks the part:

I love, love, love when brides like Erin are up for anything for the perfect photo, like lying down in the middle of grass!

This is one of my personal favorites:

The wind moved her veil just perfectly:

amy - These are gorgeous – love the depth of your processing, how you’ve captured the details and all the tones.

Vera - Thank you Amy! I enjoyed the session very much…the lighting was just gorgeous that day…it made the job much easier!

Daynah - Your photography is amazing Vera! My favorite on this page (it’s hard to choose just one!) is the bride & bridesmaids in the forest. So awesome!

Natalie & Lincoln – Wedding, Richmond, VA

Earlier this month I worked as a second photographer for Jennifer Colina. Jennifer and I have worked before, and I always feel super humbled whenever another photographer I admire asks me to work with them as a second shooter. When I agreed to work with Jennifer, I didn’t know who the bride and groom would be until a right before the wedding as we finalized the timeline and details.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I learned that I would be helping to capture Natalie and Lincoln’s big day. I hadn’t met Natalie (or Lincoln) before the wedding, but coincidentally, Natalie and I were following each other on Twitter and have chatted back and forth! We were introduced by another Tweeter, Alex. I love social media.:-)

Natalie and her bridal party got ready at the Jefferson. Can I just say that I love her shoes?

The gorgeous bride:

When I learned that Courtney from Merriment Events was coordinating, I knew it would be a fabulous day. Look at these lovely details:

Southside Community Partners – Hopewell, VA

Although Vera Pakizer Photography is my full-time love and work, I do put in a little part-time work to Southside Community Partners, a nonprofit program of the Appomattox Regional Library. It’s enjoyable for me to work and help members in the community who are out there making a difference in lives and knowing that our program helps them to reach their philanthropic goals. Does that sentence remind anyone of the Friends episode where Joey & Phoebe talk about a selfless good deed?:-)

Yesterday both my work lives combined when Southside Community Partners got together with me  for a portrait session. We have been working on creating a sign for the last few months, and now needed images as well as for other possible future marketing materials. It was definitely a neat blend of my worlds and I wanted to share some of the images. The rest will be up and around the Richmond and Southside areas and on the website in the next few weeks.:-)

Rebecca with Deborah in our office space:

Rebecca is the Coordinator of the program. Wendy is the Director of Southside Community Partners:

The team (including me!):

Books from the Resource Center…it’s a room in the library tailored to nonprofits. You can research to find funding, check out books, etc. It’s pretty unique and the only one in the region.

Shari (the Librarian/Nonprofit Collections Specialist) meets with community members:

We also set up time for a few headshots:

I really like this one: Scott is the Director of the Appomattox Regional Library. He is definitely one of the most approachable directors ever. The added bonus is that his wife is an avid reader and he’ll bring in books she’s read for me to go through!:-)

My Nephew – Almost a year later

Last summer I snapped some hilarious photos of my nephew when he came over to visit. Today he was visiting again as Brian was snapping a few headshots for me and I ended up grabbing the camera to capture a few of him and Brian. As I compare the photos I captured today to the ones from last year it’s made me realize just how fast time flies! The biggest proof is just from the photos.

I love these; the horse is actually from Busch Gardens when he “won” against my brother (his dad) at the water gun game. He named the horse Hudson. When we were headed back inside the house, I told him to “Please pick up your doll!” and he turned to me and said very seriously, “It’s not a doll! It’s a horse!”:-)

Showing off his mad kung-fu “skills”:

Oh my goodness, he is so cute. I am probably a little biased though.

mike - I wonder if the second picture is a Hadouken or Kamehameha. Either way, these are cute photos. Nice work Vera.

Kenya - He’s a cutie Vera. Love those black and white shots!

Vera - Thanks Mike & Kenya. He is so so so adorably cute. I fear he knows this and uses it against me. :-)

Lindsey & Jeffrey – Engagement Session, Burgess, VA

Yesterday I drove out to Burgess to meet up with Lindsey and Jeffrey for their engagement session. I have to say I was really looking forward to it and on my drive out there, about 20 minutes away from arrival to find that it was pouring rain! Thankfully when I arrived it was beautiful and sunny….and extremely hot and humid! Lindsey and Jeffrey were really fantastic to work with despite the oppressive weather and I am so excited for their wedding in August.

I have really enjoyed all the couples I have worked with this year, and Lindsey and Jeffrey are no exception. And did I mention they’re Hokies? That’s always a plus in my book!:-)

We started out in the front yard of the house where I spied delicious light filtering through. Though I ended up with 8 (yes, I counted!) mosquito bites, I think it was worth it! This is probably in the top 2 of my favorites from the whole day:

A quick change and we headed down to the dock:

And then we headed out on the boat to “the beach” (really just a small patch of land, but fantastic location:

We managed to get a few with their dog, Jersey, named after my home state. He was so quiet!

And can you tell this poor couple is melting from the heat? I think they played it off quite well!

And finally, I really like this one too!

Jeffrey and Lindsey I am super looking forward to your wedding later this summer. You guys are awesome!:-)

David - This must have been a thrill to shoot such beautiful landscapes and what a good looking couple!

Vera - Thanks David! Definitely a fun photo session!
